THE Ministry of Lands yesterday remained closed with workers still not being allowed to enter the premises. A check at the ministry yesterday revealed that security personnel were still guarding the premises, which were closed last Wednesday following allegations of corruption against former lands minister Reverend Gladys Nyirongo and suspended acting permanent secretary Frightone Sichone.
Several employees have been called in for questioning by the Drug enforcement Commission, Anti-Corruption commission, Office of the President (OP) and Zambia Police (ZP) starting last week when the ministry was shut.
President Levy Mwanawasa last week fired Rev Nyirongo at a briefing where he revealed allegations of corruption against her, and suspended Sichone following allegations of abuse of authority.
