SENANGA MMD member of parliament Clement Sinyinda has appealed to the government to vaccinate cattle in Western Province to eradicate the recurrence of Contagious Bovine Pleural pneumonia (CBPP).
In an interview yesterday, Sinyinda suggested that while the government was restocking cattle, it should also vaccinate the animals so that the disease was completly eliminated.
“Our area is affected by CBPP. There is recurrence of CBPP. I would appeal to the government that the best they can do is to carry out vaccination of cattle against CBPP,” Sinyinda said.
He also said Senanga should benefit from the Euro 15 million European Union-funded cattle restocking exercise.
Sinyinda also appealed for more relief food for his constituents, saying the 200 metric tonnes allocated to it was enough because most people lost their crop due to floods.
Sinyinda also urged the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to encourage people in flood-prone areas to diversify the crops they grow.
