TASK Force on corruption chairman Maxwell Nkole has said Democratic Republic of Congo Katanga governor Moses Katumbi’s bank accounts in Zambia will be reopened. Nkole was speaking to journalists yesterday after he held talks with Katumbi’s representatives over the handover of properties that were seized by the Task Force.

He named plot number 3754 Parklands, Kitwe valued at K1.1 billion and the Mishani property, also known as the Watch Tower Kingdom, and other property on Kariba road in Kitwe among properties expected to be handed over to Katumbi.

“The issue of a trunk of emeralds which are being kept at Zambia National Commercial Bank in Kitwe will be discussed on Thursday next week to affect the handover,” he said.

Nkole could however not state the value or quantity of the emeralds saying that only experts could do that.

He said the matter regarding that emeralds could not be concluded in yesterday’s meeting which was held at William Nyirenda and Company offices in Kitwe because one of Katumbi’s representatives from the DRC was not present.

Nkole made the statement after a meeting which took close an hour with some of Katumbi’s representatives.

Lawyer William Nyirenda was representing Katumbi.
