Zim is about black liberation
EDITOR — I feel sorry for black South Africans. Fourteen years after Uhuru, they control nothing in their country except the delusion that they are different from the rest of Africa because they are a cut above. Hence the relentless but now absurd onslaught by their white media against authentic decolonisation in Zimbabwe.
The worst example of this was the cholera story on eTV. According to the story, the cholera situation was so bad in Zimbabwe; a man had died of the disease in Durban! In Durban people, but the crisis was in Zimbabwe. The political brothers whose freedom we fought for were now being told by this white media to have border controls to keep the disease out. Is this the Theatre of the Absurd?
Who does not know that cholera is brought about by drinking water or eating contaminated food? The disease is fatal when it is in its most severe form. A healthy person can become ill within an hour of the onset of its symptoms. Infected patients may die within 3 hours if medical treatment is not provided. In a common scenario, the disease progresses from diarrhoea to shock in 4 to 12 hours with death following in 18 hours to several days unless oral rehydration therapy is given. ORT is cheap, simple and effective.
It consists of water, salts and sugars, which the patient drinks. So how can a cholera death in Durban be blamed on Zimbabwe by an intelligent, objective, fair and serious media?
If people like Graca Machel and Kofi Annan cannot see that the war in Zimbabwe is about black liberation from white racist hegemony, then God help Africa.
Black South Africans know that if Zimbabwe becomes a neo-colony, there is no chance for them, only for the few educated blacks who are now Franz Fanon’s Black Skins with White Masks.
