This year’s grand-final of Miss Malawi UK pageant will be held on Saturday night - November 29 – in London, organizers have announced. There are about 10 contestants for the Miss Malawi UK who will fight for the crown at Buzz Wine Bar, 2 Linton Road, IG11 8HS Barking in London.
According to the person in command of the event organization, Thungelya Nhlane the pageant aims, among other things, at building confidence in young Malawian women based in the United Kingdom and encouraging them to stay in touch with their roots.
“It’s going to be tight race and hotly contested. The girls are all gorgeous and indeed cream of Malawi,” said Nhlane.
The contestants have been drawn from different parts of the UK mostly students in colleges and University.
“What can I say from the list of contestants, Malawi has a lot of pretty ladies who are going to be representing this year,” said Nhlane a former crown holder for Miss Malawi UK.
She said some organizations such as Club Afrique have pledged to sponsor the event which will start at 8pm and end in the morning as it will continue with an after party.
“The importance of the event spurns much further and aims to bring together UK based Malawians,” the organizers said.
Patrons to the event will pay £10 at the show which organizers said the title holder will be linked to a charity work to be disclosed.
