Sikazwe urges society to help the underprivileged

WOMEN for Change (WfC) executive director Emily Sikazwe has advised young people from privileged societies to develop a conscience to help lesser privileged communities.

Officiating at a speech night at Chudleigh House School on Friday, Sikazwe urged the children to view an injury to one child as an injury to all if they were to become leaders.

“As privileged children, you must be able to develop a conscious to help other children in underprivileged communities like Chibolya, Kalingalinga, and Chawama who, despite having the potential, l do not have a chance to realise their potential,” she said.

Sikazwe urged young people to embrace humility as a mark of distinction.
“You have to learn humility, one thing that distinguishes a great leader from a rotten one is the ability to humble oneself so this is something you have to learn if you are to become a leader,” she said.

Sikazwe advised the pupils to take advantage of the opportunity their parents had given them and told them to get inspiration.

“You have accomplished parents, take advantage of that. How can a child of an accountant fail to have an ambition? How can child of an engineer, lawyer not be a champion? Obama says we can,” she said.

Sikazwe hailed the school as an indigenously owned school that had set itself favourably against foreign- owned schools.
