DEAR EDITOR ― Lately, I have been searching through newspaper comments hoping to have a pleasant surprise from some of us who almost swore by their lives that the economic situation in Zimbabwe had nothing to do with sanctions.

They insisted that the only sanctions they knew as far as Zimbabwe is concerned were smart and targeted.

Naturally if that were true you would expect the inclusive Government to be now business as usual having more or less harnessed Zanu PF's ‘corrupt monopoly’.

Can we, therefore, not say our Prime Minister is appealing for international support that had been withdrawn under the guise of smart and targeted sanctions?

I would hate a similar shameful denial recurring because Zimbabweans will inevitably be victims of such cheap politics that legitimizes external interference by any party claiming to serve our interests.
