Letters - RP Capital deal

RP Capital deal
Written by Concerned citizen, Kapiri Mposhi

It makes me wonder why Zambians have been taken for a ride by an inexperienced, not-convincing CV and improperly qualified company dealing in valuation and other financial advisory services to value one of our strategic companies, Zamtel, for it to be privatised so that they part away with $2 million.

Zambians have said the RP Capital deal was done in bad faith and it has to be discontinued. It is a scandal. Why have we allowed such a deal to take us up to this point? It is very shameful that this deal was entered into despite all the brain busters we have that are capable of detecting the danger of involving such people to value Zamtel’s assets.

Come on Zambians, let’s do our country proud by denouncing such sorts of deals. Is it each one for him/herself and God for us all? RP Capital, enough is enough. Pack your katundu and go to some country were there is no rule of law. In Zambia, we say zwa.

Indeed, the RP Capital deal is rotten as observed by The Post editorial comment of of April 25, 2009. It’s stinking and one wonders why our President wants to take the transaction to Cabinet. The Dennis Chirwa-chaired tribunal’s findings were in favour of the people and those who petitioned the Chief Justice did so on behalf of the people.

What interest does the President have in this transaction? Mr President sir, we are your bosses and please follow what we want to be done.

For God’s sake, Dora is down and the President continues to be so rigid. Why? As a nation, let’s just follow what the Constitution states regarding those who breach its provisions and this issue will definitely be history.

Please, save the nation from shame. Let’s do things according to the provisions of the Constitution without any shortcuts. Leave the legacy that will stand a test of time.

George Kunda, your days are numbered. Always remember what Bob Marley said “you can fool some people sometimes, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.”

For Rupiah and his supporters we say: “Stop it!” And for Mumba Malila and Dominic Sichinga, Zambia yonse, twatotela, twasalifya. It’s hats off for you gallant soldiers, you did a wonderful job.
