FIRST lady Thandiwe Banda last Saturday assured women in Chipata in Eastern Province that President Rupiah Banda will provide fertiliser. Addressing women at Chipata Municipal Council chamber, Thandiwe who was on a0 tour of the province commended the people in the province for voting for President Banda.

Thandiwe, who was touched by the women's song, which implied that they had hands and legs therefore should not be denied fertiliser and development, pledged that President Banda would provide them fertiliser.

"I would like to thank you for having received me in this manner. I don't have much to say but I would like to thank you for the votes you did a good job, Rupiah Banda is now the President, isn't it so?" Thandiwe asked.

She appealed to the women to ensure that they lived in unity and peace all the time so that they could prosper in life.

"Continue to love one another. We are here because of you. Without you we wouldn't have been where we are today and I wouldn't have been here," Thandiwe said.

She later donated K2 million which was shared among the women.

And Eastern Province MMD chairperson Martha Mulenga appealed to the people in the province to put the donations they had received from Thandiwe to good use.

Mulenga said Thandiwe had made a lot of donations that were supposed to be taken care of.

"I was with the first lady from Nyimba and all the places she had visited she has donated a number of items and if they are properly looked after, they can take us a long way," Mulenga said.

Mulenga said some of the donated items were wheelchairs, shoes, uniforms, kitchen utensils, operation beds and conference chairs.

While in Chipata, Thandiwe also donated to Chizongwe, Madzimawe and Kanyanja clinics among others.
