RB assures Zambians

PRESIDENT Banda has assured the nation that government will continue allocating resources towards public projects in the country. Mr Banda said this in Chama yesterday when he addressed a public rally at Chama market.

He said his wish and that of government is that more and more Zambians develop the nation. The President said his government intends to distribute resources fairly across the country so that development is spread evenly.

“We want to ensure that all the provinces in the country are developed and not divided because we are one nation,” he said.

And President Banda said for the first time in the history of Zambia, fertiliser has reached all the districts in the country in good time.

Mr Banda assured that the cost of a bag of fertiliser under the Farmers Input Support Programmes (FISP) will be at K50,000. He, however, said the FISP has been reduced from eight to four bags so that more farmers can benefit from the supplement.

President Banda also said although there was a lot of criticism against him, he will not arrest anyone. Mr Banda said he will remain focused to develop the nation.

He said Zambia has chosen democracy as its guiding principle and as President he will not discriminate against anyone regardless of their political affiliation.

And President Banda says education is key to wealth creation and economic development.

Mr Banda implored students to take their studies seriously for them to reach greater heights in future.

He said this after being shown around Chama High School in Chama.

President Banda arrived in Chama yesterday where he met traditional leaders and MMD officials before he addressed a public rally.

He encouraged students to study hard for them to perform well and make a meaningful contribution to making Zambia a productive and wealthy nation.

Mr Banda said he was sad to see that Chama High School’s infrastructure had deteriorated.

He assured that government would address the situation soon.

The President said his administration regarded education as the driving force in the economic development of the nation.

Mr Banda encouraged female students not to rush into early marriages, but to study hard, for them to contribute to the nation’s economic growth in future.
The President later held a private discussion with Chief Kambombo of the Tumbuka people.

He is today expected to inspect government projects in Lundazi and also hold a public rally. - ZANIS
