PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Michael Sata has said it is costly for the ruling MMD to continue having George Kunda as Vice-President because of his continuous hallucination and hatred for Catholic priests.

In an interview in Mazabuka on Saturday, Sata said Vice-President Kunda was a liability to the MMD and Zambia because of his stance against the Catholic Church and other people who criticised government's failure to address many problems the nation faced.

He said Vice-President Kunda issued statements against the Catholic Church, which were decisive and insignificant but could injure the Catholic faith he claimed to belong to.

"The only problem with George Kunda is that he likes hallucinating and dreaming. The hate he has against the Catholic Church priests is unacceptable, Catholic priests have always been a guiding and uniting factor world over and for him to suggest that they have joined a group of people engaged in insulting President Rupiah Banda and his failed

MMD government it is very unfortunate,” Sata said. “The priests have only expressed their concern over the way this MMD government is dragging people into poverty, the way this corrupt MMD government is embracing corrupt individuals at the expense of resolving many problems the people of Zambia are faced with.

“George Kunda is a comedian. Catholic priests do not insult, they say the truth and George Kunda is very scared of telling the truth. He is a lawyer but I don't know who made him to be a lawyer because he has failed to defend and uphold the principle of defending the weak and the poor in the society.”

And featuring on Mazabuka Community Radio station's Live Wire programme on Saturday, Sata said people suggesting that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema had sold the people of Southern Province to the Patriotic Front (PF) were misconstrued.

Sata said the PF and UPND pact was consummated on the principal of providing an alternative government, which would address high levels of corruption that MMD leaders had engaged in and other governance issues.

"MMD and people like Vice-President George Kunda will continue to be unstable with the pact no wonder whereever they go they talk about the pact. Today they have started misleading the people that comrade Hichilema has sold UPND to PF, which is a lie, he is lying again. We have not merged, we have only said we agree on working relations,” Sata said.

“If UPND is strong in a particular area why should PF contest? This is what MMD has always been capitalising on. Now things have changed, they have been caught up in their own cobweb of lies and deceit to the people of Zambia. RB and Kunda should not forget the people of Zambia have always demanded for a united opposition."

Sata challenged expelled Namwala UPND member of parliament Major Robbie Chizhyuka to resign as opposed to throwing uncontrollable missiles on the pact if he had support from the people of Namwala.

"The problem with Chizhyuka is self-created. He has forgotten that UPND was first and he just joined so if he feels that UPND-PF pact was not workable, let him resign and re-contest on MMD ticket. He was expelled but he ran to the court. He has failed to address the problems the people in Namwala are faced with, he is a sent uncontrolled missile because of his insatiable appetite for leadership," said Sata.

Earlier, Sata visited Nakambala market and expressed sadness over the filthy structures under which marketeers traded.

Sata’s visit brought business to a virtual standstill as people chanted slogans in support of the pact.
