(TALKZIMBABWE) Zimbabwe media ignorance astounding

Zimbabwe media ignorance astounding

IT is my opinion after reading letters regarding the so-called Zimbabwe Democracy Recovery Act (ZIDERA) that the media in Zimbabwe would do a great service to its readers by publishing the Act in its entirety. Apparently many readers need to review its content.

The ignorance demostrated by some people, even in respectable positions is astounding. An intellectually weak media and journalists is the reason why Zimbabweans today do not have a clue what is going on in the corridors of Zimbabwe's inclusive Government.

The MDC-T party's "outstanding issues" are all out of the Global Political Agreement. That's why the party left Maputo, Mozambique with egg-in-face.

Those people who argue that sanctions are only targetted on Zanu PF individuals and complain that the country has to make reforms to get help from the West, expose their own daftness.

I heard one journalism Professor on SW Radio Africa today saying the Zimbabwean Government should implement the GPA fully for America and the European Union to lift sanctions against Zimbabwe; yet in that same article he was reading, also argued that there were only "targetted sanctions" against Zimbabwe.

He went on to compare Zimbabwe and Apartheid South Africa which he said had sanctions lifted after Nelson Mandela was installed as President.

This was unbelievable.

The inconsistency in Prof. Mukasa's argument is astounding and symptomatic of the dis - ease that we see in the polarized media daily. Blind love for one political party should not cloud peoples' judgment; especially professionals.
