LWSC sues Met-Weld over unpaid bills

LUSAKA Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) has sued Met-Weld Limited claiming K 36,947,476.90 in unpaid water bills. LWSC explained in a writ of summons filed in the Lusaka High Court that Met-Weld Ltd was an enterprise operating from Chelstone Market under account number 02008604.
The water company complained that Met-Weld Ltd accumulated the bill in question but had not paid up to now and the latest invoice was issued on December 8, 2009.
LWSC complained that they attempted to resolve the matter amicably by requesting Met-Weld Ltd to settle a substantial part of the utility bill but all their efforts have proved futile.
The water company lamented that they had suffered loss and damages.
LWSC further complained that as a result of the court action, they had incurred legal fees and lost income due to non payment of the amount in question.
