PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Michael Sata (right) has welcomed the government’s decision to audit PF-controlled councils on the ground that the exercise is extended to State House and other councils countrywide.
Reacting to President Rupiah Banda’s remarks that the government would soon conduct an audit in PF-controlled councils countrywide to ensure that money collected from service charges and the government grant were put to good use, Sata said State House should also be audited because of the President’s numerous trips.
“We have no problem with our councils being audited but this should also be extended to State House…for him Banda and his numerous trips, then George Kunda should also be audited,” he said.
Sata wondered why President Banda singled out PF councils alone for the audit instead of all the councils in the country.
“The President cannot be so partisan that only PF councils should be audited because this is supposed to be done in all the councils across the country. For example, in Eastern Province where most councils are controlled by the MMD…the councils that side should also be audited,” said Sata.
