UPND Siavonga member of parliament Douglas Syakalima has charged that former president Frederick Chiluba’s continued clinging and support for President Rupiah Banda’s corrupt regime is a gimmick for his personal survival and enjoyment of freedom of movement and association.
In an interview in Mazabuka after featuring on the Live Wire radio programme on Mazabuka Radio on Saturday, Syakalima said Chiluba’s conduct since his acquittal by the magistrate courts of corruption and other cases he was facing, has openly shown support and praised President Rupiah Banda, for his personal survival.
“This man Chiluba is living for survival that is why he is supporting President Rupiah Banda. He wants to be moving the streets of Lusaka freely. Who hasn’t known Chiluba’s way of behaviour? It is a survival gimmick that he has formulated to think that he is free.
He wants to be walking the streets of Lusaka free and those are crooked ways of life. He wants people to forget that he has been probed of things. He is squarely the architect of the sufferings of the people in Zambia. Before he became president we didn’t have street kids’, so who is he today to walk the streets and talk about the problems the people of Zambia and miners on the Copperbelt have?
And actually when people talked about change, they wanted to change and have a president who was going to be a friend not an enemy they way he has become an enemy of the people of Zambia,” said Syakalima.
Syakalima said no one would stop PF leader Michael Sata from becoming president of Zambia if the people said so.
“Today they MMD through this crooked man Chiluba are busy denouncing the PF leader by bringing an issue which was resolved by ACC in 1992, issues of K1.2 billion in a bid to arrest and prosecute and get rid of Sata to contest the 2011 election. But they should know that nobody will stop Sata or Hakainde Hichilema from ruling this country if people say so,” he said.
“The MMD government should know that the people of Zambian have resolved for change and that change is coming. If they want they can continue using this stupid propaganda.
The people of Zambia are resolved, the entire system has gone wayward and inept. Zambians are too far beyond what the MMD government is planning against these two leaders.
They are confused these guys no wonder George Kunda today he is in Eastern Province hallucinating about the (PF-UPND) pact,” said Syakalima.
