THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Chipata has arrested a 41-year-old woman after she was found with 105 kilogrammes of cannabis. DEC spokesperson John Nyawali confirmed the arrest of Brenda Hamanenga, a businesswoman of Jack compound in Lusaka.

Nyawali said that Hamanenga was arrested on Wednesday morning at Kapata Bus Station after she boarded a Lungu Luxury Bus en route to Lusaka. He said that the 105 kilogrammes of cannabis was concealed in two suitcases. Nyawali said the suspect had been detained in Lusaka while waiting for commencement of court trial.

And Nyawali has advised women to uphold their dignity and desist from activities that reduce their moral standards.

He also appealed to peasant farmers to grow crops that could contribute to enhancing food security in the country instead of growing prohibited cash crops.
