Chief Mpezeni gets invitation to visit HQ for former Gaza empire

PARAMOUNT chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people has been invited to Mozambique by the King Ngungunyane Institute to visit the headquarters of the former Gaza empire.

According to a statement by Mozambican High Commissioner to Zambia Maria Leocadia Tivane Mate, chief Mpezeni will also visit Tchaimithi and other important places in the history of the Ngonis in Mozambique.

“I have the honour to inform you that the community of the Ngonis in Mozambique is very happy with the proposal of Your Majesty to reconnect with your brothers and sisters in Mozambique as a real return to roots of Ngoni community. I am pleased to inform Your Majesty that the biggest Ngoni community in Mozambique has settled in Tete and Gaza Provinces in the south of the country near South Africa and Zimbabwe,” she stated.

High Commissioner Tivane Mate stated that the Ngoni community from Gaza had set up the King Ngungunyane Institute which was in charge of the various activities to promote the Ngoni culture in Mozambique.

“Among the activities the King Ngungunyane Institute is involved in include Muganu aimed at marking the beginning of the amarula beer season, Mcwai, the great battle of Mugule, Ngoni army of King Ngungunyane, the great battle of resistance against the Portugeuse colonist in Khuwulela-Mandjakazi district and King Ngungunyane's day,” stated High Commissioner Tivane Mate.

“Therefore they would like also to invite other Ngoni communities from South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe to participate in this joyful moment of your visit to Mozambique.”
