CHINA’S friendship with Zambia is mutually beneficial and sincere in nature, says visiting Chinese Vice-Premier Hui Liang Yu. Speaking during the meeting between Hui and Vice-President George Kunda at State House yesterday, Vice-Premier Hui said it gave him much pleasure to visit Zambia. He said he fully agreed with the earlier comments made by Vice-President Kunda on the bilateral relations involving China and Zambia.
“Our friendship as I said is an all-dimensional and an all-weather one. It is mutually beneficial and it is also sincere in nature. China-Zambia relations have withstood the test of time and have maintained healthy and steady growth,” Vice-Premier Hui said.
And Vice-President Kunda said Vice-Premier Hui’s visit would create channels for cooperation and enhance relations between Zambia and China.
He said the two country’s bilateral relations were founded on mutual respect as evidenced by high level contacts and visits from both sides.
“I remember at the Lusaka International Airport when you met Dr Kenneth Kaunda this yesterday morning, I could see the excitement. The friendly relations were established as long as during the days of Chairman Mao and Dr Kaunda,” Vice-President Kunda said.
“Zambia continues to support the One China policy which recognises the mainland as the sole legitimate government of the whole China.”
Vice-President Kunda said under Zambia-China cooperation many projects had been undertaken by China which included an ultra-modern stadium in Ndola and the government complex.
He said the agreements which were signed included the economic and technical cooperation agreement, the grant and interest free loans and the Memorandum of Understanding on agriculture.
However, the amount of money involved in the agreements was not disclosed.
