Mututwa says Sata has assumed the role of messenger for W/Province

MAXWELL Mututwa says the people of Western Province are thirsty and eager for Michael Sata’s message because he is speaking what they want to hear. Mututwa, a former Ngambela prime minister of Barotseland, said from his Senanga base yesterday shortly before PF leader Sata addressed a public rally in Senanga, that people were waiting for him.

Mututwa said he was also delighted that hundreds of Mongu residents attended Sata's public rally in the provincial capital on Saturday afternoon.

“We heard that he is coming to Senanga,” Mututwa said. “The people are waiting for him…”

Mututwa said Sata was assured of getting the whole Western Province if he continued preaching about the Barotse question.

“The people are eager for his message. They are thirsty. All the people are relishing listening to him. The people should come out in the open and go through out the province to talk,” Mututwa said.

“What we want is the Barotse issue to be a priority before the elections so that we move in tandem with the rest of the country after elections.”

Mututwa said should the Barotse issue remain unresolved after the elections, it would become difficult to deal with it.

“I hear that there were a lot of people that attended Sata’s rally in Mongu and I am very thankful to all that attended,” Mututwa said.

He said Sata had now assumed the role of a messenger of the people of Western Province over the Barotse issue and it would be through him that President Rupiah Banda would get the true feelings of the people of Barotseland over the matter.

“The people are attending Sata’s rallies in huge numbers because he is talking of the Barotseland Agreement and about those that are detained in Mumbwa, because this is really a thorn in the hearts of the people here," Mututwa said.

On the other hand, Mututwa said people like Vice-President George Kunda and his co-horts should be questioned because they have offended the people of Western Province over the Barotseland Agreement of 1964 issue.

Sata on Saturday addressed a mammoth rally at Mongu’s Blue Gum grounds and was yesterday afternoon poised to address another public rally in Senanga, about 99 kilometers away from Mongu.
