PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda will not get a vote from Lambaland, says Patrick Mwanawasa. In an interview from Kafulafuta where he is positioning to run for parliamentary office under the opposition PF ticket in this year’s elections, Patrick (above), the eldest son of late president Levy Mwanawasa, said Lambaland in Ndola rural would not vote for President Banda and the MMD.
“People in Lambaland have noticed that President Banda has completely erased the efforts of president Levy Mwanawasa on the development of Zambia. People of Lambaland are saying that they want to show him that they mean business and he will not get a vote in Lambaland,” Patrick said.
He said the PF’s campaign in Lambaland was progressing well ahead of the elections.
“Everything is okay and people are happy that there is a Mwanawasa name coming up, that as a son of the late president I want to stand,” said Patrick.
“The campaigns for PF are okay and have been boosted by my arrival. We are mobilising ourselves. After the PF convention Saturday July 2 to Tuesday July 5, 2011, I will camp at Teka Farm to campaign.”
President Mwanawasa’s mother was Lamba while his father was Lenje from Central Province.
Respected for his relentless fight against corruption, Mwanawasa ruled Zambia from January 2002 until his death in August 2008.
