DORA Siliya and Peter Daka may end up in jail if there is a change of government, says Lameck Magani.

Reacting to Siliya and Daka’s attacks on him and PF leader Michael Sata during the MMD youth rally at Nadalitsika Basic School on Saturday, Mangani, a former deputy minister of works and supply who also earlier served as home affairs deputy minister, said he was ready to spill the beans on the two should they force him to.

“Dora Siliya and Peter Daka know that if there is a change of government they may end up in jail. They are aware of that, so they are hiding something. Dora was all over in Northern, Southern, why is she so desperate alone? Is she the only member of the national executive committee? MMD as a party has a number of NEC members, why is she so desperate? Why is Peter Daka so desperate? So if they want me to spill the beans, let them do it? I have more, remember that I was one of the few people that were privileged to know what each one of us was doing,” Mangani said.

“So if they want me to spill the beans. I can spill the beans but that desperation will not solve the problem. The people of Zambia have decided and at the right time those that have messed up have to answer some of the charges that people will demand from them. I have tried hard not to comment anyhow on matters relating to my leaving the MMD but since Peter Daka and Dora Siliya decided to follow me here in Chipata to talk about things which suggest that I may have done something wrong, I am compelled to comment on these matters.”

Mangani who recently resigned from both the MMD and government as a deputy minister has since been adopted by the PF as its candidate for Chipata Central.

He said Siliya and Daka had personalised the presidency and that President Banda would lose this year’s elections because people were not happy with the way the two had conducted themselves.

He said part of the reason why he left the MMD was that Daka and Siliya had personalised MMD.

“I don’t think I was the only one who was not happy with the way the two were handling party matters. With whatever connections they may have with the presidency, I don’t think it is right for them to personalise the presidency. The presidency is for the people of Zambia,” Magani said.

“There is nobody in the former Cabinet that is so desperate like the two. So that desperation tells a story. Why are they so desperate? Why are they so worried about the possible change of government? This simply shows that they have very dirty hands and if they want me to elaborate what I mean I will elaborate at an appropriate time.”

Mangani said the people of Eastern Province had a right to make a decision freely, not based on tribalism. He said Easterners could not be pushed to make a decision based on artificial connections like tribalism.

On Daka’s demand that Mangani should tell the people where he comes from, he said he had not hidden where he hails from.

“They know that my father is Mr. Mangani, my mother is Mrs Asneli Mangani. They (Daka and Siliya) know the village very well. I don’t have to trace my roots and if they want a team they can bring a team of camera men, they can go to the village. They will find everybody, they will find the whole lineage,” Mangani said.

Mangani said when a party was losing power, the problem of desperation usually culminated into violence.

“It happened in 1991. UNIP tried to harass a lot of people. It never worked. This time around during the third term a lot of people were harassed. Chiefs were paraded. Pastors where brought before the cameras but it never worked. When people decide they have decided,” Mangani said.

“What is happening now may not be of President Banda’s making. People think that the political party has been in power for 20 years, it’s too much. They would like to make alternatives. Whether alternatives may not be good in the eyes of Peter Daka and Dora Siliya but people of Zambia want to make a change.”

Mangani said if Daka and Siliya went to Chipata thinking that they were more powerful than him, people were yet to see what would happen in Msanzala and Petauke Central constituencies.

“Peter Daka should not underrate the situation in Msanzala and Dora Siliya, I know what is happening in her constituency. The issues at hand are about change and Dora Siliya and Peter Daka are too small to prevent the wishes of the people of Zambia who include the people of Chipata Central,” Mangani said.

At a public rally on Saturday, Siliya said the MMD would ensure that it made Mangani cry this year.

Siliya and Daka centred their campaign on attacking Mangani, Sata and defending President Banda’s parentage issue.
