VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has instructed Zambia National Service (ZNS) to grade the Ndabala-Chabale road before September 20. But Patriotic Front vice-president Guy Scott has warned that the PF government will ensure that everyone abusing public resources faces the law.

During his campaign meeting at Kapesi Basic School in Serenje's Muchinga Constituency, where he is standing as MMD's candidate, Vice-President Kunda disclosed that two graders were working on the Ndabala-Chibale road while a bulldozer and a grader were grading the Kaseba-Chisomo road.

Vice-President Kunda's wife Ireen and son were camped in Muchinga Constituency, distributing vaseline, salt, money, MMD chitenge and T-shirts before addressing a rally.

The Vice-President is being flown in a Zambia Air Force helicopter from constituency to constituency in Serenje district.

And addressing a rally at Koffi Kunda Basic School in Muchinga Constituency, Scott said Vice-President Kunda would have to account for the abuse of state resources during his campaigns.

He said it was illegal for Vice-President Kunda to use government vehicles when Parliament had been dissolved.

"George Kunda will tell the nation in court how much taxpayers' money he spent in his constituency after September 20. He's a finished man; even Rupiah (President Banda) will discard him after the elections. PF in government will ensure that everyone who stole your money pays back and we will ensure that no one flees the country," Scott said.

He said it was madness for Vice-President Kunda to tell people that a special gadget would be installed to monitor anyone voting for PF.

"They are cheating that PF government will not buy your maize; that's madness. They (MMD) have run out ideas, they have nothing to say. Buying maize is government's responsibility, and PF will pay you on time," he said.

Scott said there was no economic growth to celebrate because it was only benefiting a few individuals.

He said a lot of local people had been displaced after their land was sold to foreigners at Nansanga Farm Bloc.

"Please, be strong up to September 20; don't be intimidated or fooled by MMD's lies. Time has come for somebody with new ideas to govern this country. It's time to redeem yourselves this year," he said.

"In Nansanga Farm Bloc, MMD chased you without giving you an alternative land and compensation in the name of development."

Scott said the MMD had reduced the allocation of fertiliser to small-scale farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme from eight to four in order to fund its campaign.
