ZEC prepares for elections

THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has started making preparations for the forthcoming elections which are likely to be held beginning of next year.
The electoral commission recently held a capacity-building workshop with various stakeholders in Masvingo with a view to sensitise participants on the essence of voter education. ZEC says this is ahead of the referendum and elections scheduled for next year.
The commission’s Deputy Chairperson, Joyce Kazembe, said the meeting was part of her organisation’s drive towards educating the public on elections.
Kazembe cited the issues of delimitation, referendum, administration and management of elections as major issues that required much attention.
She paid tribute to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the government and various stakeholders for supporting her organisation’s initiatives.
ZEC started its voter education last year and expects to end the programme in 2015.
