TOURISM and information minister Given Lubinda says President Michael Sata wants State House to be part of Zambia's tourist attractions.

Speaking when he received zebras from the Zambia Wild Life Authority (ZAWA) on behalf of President Sata at State House on Saturday, Lubinda said President Sata wants to put a stop to the decimation of animals from State House.

"The last time I heard about animals in State House, the last time I heard about this relationship was when animals from here were being evacuated, they were naughty, when some species had to be taken away because ‘Ka nitundila ka monkey, ka mambala," said Lubinda in reference to former president Rupiah Banda who ordered the removal of monkeys from State House after one of them urinated on him.

"I was extremely excited that we are not going to see the decimation of animals but an increase in the species at State House. Michael Sata has decided that State House is going to be a tourist attraction."

Lubinda said that President Sata wanted to demonstrate his personal commitment to wildlife conservation like the patriarch Noah, who in accordance with God's instructions took into the ark male and female specimens of different species of animals.
