Mufumbwe PF opposes Sata's appointment of Masumba

THE PF leadership in Mufumbwe says it is shocked by President Michael Sata's appointment of Mufumbwe MMD parliamentarian Stephen Masumba as a deputy minister and has asked that it be rescinded.

According to Mufumbwe district PF chairperson Edwin Kafololo, the head of state was ignoring people who had worked hard for the party's victory and rewarded people like Masumba who, he charged, had insulted him and pioneered falsehoods that President Sata was a gay rights promoter prior to the September 20 elections.

"So how can such a person be given a ministerial post, Your Excellency? We have people who have suffered for the party but you are supporting different people who were insulting you and were very much against your leadership. Your Excellency, we beg from you that we don't want this person, please may you revoke and rescind this appointment and find a PF replacement," he stated.

Kafololo charged that Masumba's appointment had made PF members in Mufumbwe a laughing stock in the eyes of MMD cadres, who were boasting that they would soon hijack PF in the area.

"It's quite shocking to find that you are supporting this man as if you have no right people to be appointed on the same post," he charged.

Kafololo advised President Sata not to incorporate too many MMD members in government because of the former ruling party's tarnished image, saying it would spoil the good start PF had made.

He said decisions of a few people should not overtake feelings of the majority and asked that similar decisions should have the blessings of local people.

"Masumba is MMD and if you appoint him as deputy minister, he will weaken the PF machinery including PF cadres because they will think they are doing nothing and people will not join PF," stated Kafololo.

President Sata last week appointed Masumba, MMD Ikelengi parliamentarian Elijah Muchima and Isaac Banda for Lumezi Constituency as deputy ministers.
