PF NATIONAL chairperson Inonge Wina says the MMD's political arrogance will make it impossible for the former ruling party to return to power for a long time to come. Reacting to Central Province MMD chairman George Kangwa's recent comments that the opposition was undeterred by former Kapiri Mposhi member of parliament Friday Malwa's defection from the MMD to the PF, Wina said Kangwa was just burying his head in the sand.

"I wanted to comment on the sentiments expressed by the MMD in Central Province regarding the defection of Mr Friday Malwa," Wina said in an interview. "The MMD's arrogance is what will make the party not to regain power for a long time to come."

She wondered why the MMD in the province were saying that Malwa and others' defection to the PF was good riddance when he is a former MMD member of parliament and deputy minister in the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare.

"We welcome Mr Malwa and all his supporters wholeheartedly. PF is a movement and a party for all, particularly for those who believe in what the party stands for," Wina said. "The party does not sell membership cards because the PF believes that the card is your heart and your political orientation. That is why every member who joins should be welcomed."

She cautioned PF members against falling prey to the spirit of arrogance prevailing within the opposition MMD.

"As party national chairperson, I wish to request all our members to be humble and accordingly to refrain from being arrogant, the spirit which we still see in the MMD," she said.

"PF is on the move as could be seen in the just-ended parliamentary and local government by-elections where the party successfully challenged the MMD dominance in Eastern, Western and North-Western provinces. The party indeed is gaining strength in these areas."

Wina urged PF members to continue recruiting new members from all walks of life.
