MINISTRY of Chief and Traditional Affairs permanent secretary Coillard Chibbonta has written to chief Kapijimpanga to suspend the signing of any agreements on behalf of the chiefdom because his legitimacy as chief is in dispute.

Chibbonta's letter comes in the wake of Kansanshi Mining Plc's agreement with chief Kapijimpanga to launch the K235.4 billion housing project of staff members of the mining firm in Solwezi.

In his letter addressed to chief Kapijimpanga and Kansanshi Mining Plc general manager, Chibbonta advised that any business with chief Kapijimpanga could only be conducted once the judiciary had dispensed the court action.

He advised that all potential investment projects and agreement negotiations with the sitting chief Kapijimpanga would be null and void after the June 12, 2012 court judgment.

There is a contention in chief Kapijimpanga's chiefdom as the legitimacy of the current chief Kilolo Ngambi was in dispute.

The contesting group had written to President Michael Sata seeking his indulgence in the matter following an agreement that the current chief Kapijimpanga signed with Kansanshi Mines to build houses for its staff under the Kabitaka housing project in Solwezi.
