VICE-President Guy Scott says the UPND is doomed because it has embraced William Banda whom he described as a "Kiss of death". And Southern Province minister Obvious Mwaliteta says the PF will continue to align itself with the poor so that their lives can be uplifted.

Addressing marketeers of Potters Market under the Tandabale Cooperative, Vice-President Scott who was in Livingstone for a ground-breaking ceremony for the market's toilet also donated K13 million towards the project.

"I hear that my friend Hakainde Hichilema has been here trying to win this election (Livingstone by-election), and I hear that he contributed some money towards this market. I would like to advise him that the PF won without money, the PF had no William Banda who in English is called a kiss of death.

"If you have William Banda in your party then you are doomed, you are dead; UNIP had him and they are dead, the MMD had him and they are dead and UPND is going to die," Vice-President Scott said.

He said the K13 million he had donating towards the construction of the market toilet was from his own pocket and should spare HH from vote buying.

"He (HH) needs to find a message and not money if he wants to win an election. I withdrew this money last Thursday and it is to allow your MP (member of parliament) to help with the construction of the Chimbusu (Toilet)," said Vice-President Scott.

And Mwaliteta said Zambia was in wrong hands under the MMD and "God's gracious hand led to the country being driven by a good driver in Michael Sata".

"Let us support this government because it is for the poor, our friends are the poor, and we will not be friends with the rich. On July 5 we have a by-election I urge you to break a record by voting for the PF," said Mwaliteta.

And Southern Province chairman Joseph Akafumba said Potters Market has a sad history as traders were chased by the MMD and had their stands demolished.

"The PF is pro-poor and we have given this market back to the people," said Akafumba.
