Chiluba has done a lot of good things which should not be forgotten, said Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people in Luapula Province yesterday. In an interview, Mwata Kazembe said former president Frederick Chiluba did a lot of good things when he was in power and that some attacks on him were just personal vendetta.

“Does it mean that everything Frederick Chiluba did was bad? Chiluba did a lot of good things, only that we Zambians are forgetful. Some of those attacks are just personal vendetta,” Mwata Kazembe said.

Asked if he had any word of comfort for Chiluba, Mwata Kazembe responded: “I’ve time and again talked to him. I’ve been calling him and I don’t think I need to console him through the papers.”

Mwata Kazembe’s remarks come in the wake of Chiluba’s total condemnation and denounciation as a thief following London High Court judge Peter Smith’s judgment that established that Chiluba had defrauded Zambians out of millions of dollars.
