SAPITWA Finance Limited has signed a letter of intent with Woord and Daad of the Netherlands to explore ways of enhancing agriculture-leasing services in Zambia. The agreement entails that Sapitwa would broker between agriculture clients, equipment manufacturers and financial institutions while Woord and Daad would contribute to the development of the finance model in the agriculture sector.

According to a statement, Sapitwa was currently discussing various models with different financial entities and development agencies in Zambia.

“Sapitwa aims at being a partner to help meet the needs for asset finance and leasing in the banking and financial services sector, equipment manufacturers and vendors as well as the market in general. So with the letter of intent, Woord & Daad will contribute to the development of the finance model for agriculture leasing services,” read the statement.

Sapitwa Finance is a leasing partner and financial intermediary as well as business advisory company, which is largely based on asset-backed financial products.

And Woord and Daad is a Dutch Non-Governmental Organisation that works on reduction of poverty in developing countries through partnerships with local organisations in those countries.

It also helps entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their own businesses through provisions of technical support and assistance in the form of loans or networking with Dutch and local entrepreneurs.

Woord and Daad is also collaborating with the Zambia Agribusiness Technical Assistance Centre (ZATAC) to support and assist small and medium enterprises in the tourism, natural resource products and agriculture.

“ZATAC and Woord and Daad cooperate to strengthen and to stimulate the growth of the small and medium enterprise sector in Zambia through the provision of financial services such as loans and grants and business development services in form of business plan development, administration, technical expertise, certification, market linkages and export,” it stated.
