THE Oasis Forum has resolved that each member organisation consults with its members on whether they will participate in the national constitutional conference. NGOCC board chairperson Marian Munyinda said the Forum decided that each organisation must consult its members and decided on their individual positions. She said they had their own meeting where they resolved not to participate in the conference.
Munyinda said the Oasis Forum would in due course hold a joint press conference where they would state their position.
Chief government spokesperson Mike Mulongoti on Sunday advised NGOCC to rescind its decision to boycott debates of the NCC and ensure its membership's concern are included for consideration.
Mulongoti said it was wrong and unfortunate for NGOCC to boycott the debate.
He however said it was a democratic right to boycott and if NGOCC felt comfortable with the decision, the government would not push for it to participate.
Efforts to get a comment from other members proved futile by press time.
NGOCC membership last week resolved not to take part in the constitutional conference.
During a civil society meeting to discuss and review its position on the current Constitutional Review Process in Zambia, Munyinda said the membership decided not to take part in the constitutional conference because the undertaking would be confined to the government-controlled road map.
