The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested the assistant registrar at the University of Zambia, James Chisenga, for allegedly modifying grade 12 results to enable six individuals meet entry requirements at the university.
Chisenga is facing six counts of unauthorised modification of computer data, relating to Grade 12 results for the six Grade 12 students to enable them meet the minimum entry requirements for admission as first year students at the University of Zambia, contrary to Section 6 of the Computer Misuse and Crimes Act, No.13 of the Laws of Zambia.
ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono yesterday said Chisenga in the first count, on unknown dates but between September 15, 2005 and October 20, 2005 in Lusaka as Assistant Registrar with the University of Zambia allegedly made unauthorised
modifications of computer data relating to Grade 12 results for Chalwe Sylvester M, (Computer No. 26010925) so as to enable him meet the minimum entry requirements for admission as a first year student at the University of Zambia.
"In the second count, Chisenga on dates unknown but between September 10, 2005 and December 10, 2005 made unauthorised modifications of computer data relating to Grade 12 results for Elizabeth Chisenga (Computer No. 26001501), so as to enable her meet the minimum requirements for admission as a first year student at the University of Zambia," Moono said.
In the third count, Chisenga on dates unknown but between September 5, 2005 and October 25, 2005 allegedly made unauthorised modifications of computer data relating to the Grade 12 results of Banda Yoram (Computer No. 26001594).
In the fourth count, Chisenga, on dates unknown, but between September 1, 2005 and October 21, 2005 allegedly made unauthorised modifications of computer data relating to the Grade 12 results of Chalongwa Shadrack Mpundu (Computer No. 26001802) to enable him meet the minimum entry requirements for admission as a first year.
In the fifth count, Chisenga, between September 2, 2005 and November 16, 2005, allegedly made unauthorised modifications of computer data relating to the Grade 12 results for Felistus Mushoke (Computer No. 26001403) to enable her meet minimum entry requirements for admission as a first year student and in the sixth count he is alleged to have made unauthorised modifications of computer data relating to the Grade 12 results of Monde Simakando (Computer No. 26001951), between September 7, 2005 and November 22, 2005.
Moono said Chisenga was released on a K10 million bond with two surities and would appear in the magistrates court for mention on January 8, 2008.
He said UNZA had in the recent past, expelled students who were irregularly admitted to the institution.
