DEVELOPING countries can't afford to ignore China, visiting Indonesian minister of state for societal dynamics Professor Carunia Mulya Firdausy has said.
In an interview on Monday, Prof Firdausy said China was a shining example to developing countries as it proved that any poor country could raise its status using local resources.

"China is rich and becoming a powerful nation because it invested heavily in its human resource and now they are able to create anything you can think of. So you cannot live in the world and ignore China but all the developing countries have to learn from its experience," he said.

"In countries like yours all that is needed is the right human resource to make raw materials like copper into finished products and poor will be a forgotten word in this country."

Prof Firdausy said exporting raw materials like copper was not helping Zambia and that the government should encourage the export of finished copper products.
