UNITED Liberal Party (ULP) president Michael Sata's campaign is not highlighting issues that affect the masses. In an interview, Sikota observed that politicians still have to improve on how to conduct their campaigns in a meaningful manner, citing Sata as an example of those basing campaigns on irrelevances. He said Zambians wanted to hear about issues of the economy because they were having difficulties.

"Most of our people are struggling to make ends meet and they want solutions to their problems. They want empowerment and better living conditions," he said.

Sikota said Zambians wanted to hear about investment, job creation, the disbursement of the Citizens Economic Empowerment Fund and how they could access it.

"Zambians want to hear about policies and how issues affecting them will be sorted. They want to know how their lives will be improved by policies of a political party.

They are not interested in who still has a card for UNIP, they don't care whether one is retired or not," he said. "I fear that some of the campaigns are not looking at issues but are looking more at character assassination."

Sikota said there was need to improve on the campaigns so that they become issue based.
He said in modern politics, it did not matter who belonged to which party as long as they understand issues that affect the people.

And Sikota called for honest criticism of the presidential aspirants during the campaigns for the October 30 election.
