LOCAL government and housing minister Sylvia Masebo on Friday complained against the police in Chongwe for their alleged failure to control the behaviour of people that caused confusion at Chongwe bus stop when Vice-President Rupiah Banda stopped over to greet the people.
Masebo, who lodged a complaint at Chongwe Police station over the behaviour of some alleged PF cadres that caused confusion when Vice-President Banda stopped over on his way to Luangwa, said police had a duty to maintain law and order.
"Madam officer-in-charge, we as MMD are very disappointed with the behaviour the people exhibited when the Acting President stopped over to greet the people. How can you as police allow PF cardres to create confusion at the bus station?" Masebo asked. "The police were supposed to be there to control the situation."
Scores of people flagged PF chitenge materials and waved PF symbols as they chanted "pabwato". This was when Vice-President Banda stopped over to greet people at Chongwe town centre.
The police later thanked Masebo, who is also area member of parliament, for fighting for their welfare in Chongwe.
