Mess at local govt ministry

It is disheartening to note that local goverment minister Benny Tetamashimba is becoming famous for the wrong reasons.

The local government ministry can never be run like a shop or a bar. The government at local level is vital to the country’s development and should be run in accordance with the law!

Teta is messing up the local government by unlawfully suspending the mayoral elections. Rupiah is very quiet and can't even react to the madness being created by his local government minister!

Maybe the poor judgement being exhibited by Teta is also as a result of the global financial crisis since all the nonsense is being attributed to that !

Global economic crisis

The global economic crisis has exposed most Zambian politicians’ lack of basic knowlegde of overcoming financial obstacles. Why should our currency be the most vulnerable in the region, apart from the Zimbabwean dollar?

Currently, it seems no strategy has been put in place to cushion the impact. Why should NCC delegates be getting a salary of a civil servant as sitting allowance per day and why did parliamentarians award themselves an increment despite being in the midst of a financial crisis?

Miners are losing jobs every day. Peasant farmers were cheated of cheap fertiliser, hence we expect poor yields and mealie-meal prices to be much higher than they are today.

The common man is in trouble and it's only that there is some chibwabwa and bondwe growing in his backyard gardens that is sustaining him. Otherwise, the situation is so bad that if left unchecked, it is capable of turning into a catastrophe.
