ZAMBIA'S High Commissioner to South Africa Leslie Mbula yesterday said Chief Justice Ernest Sakala who is still admitted to South Africa's Milpark Hospital has continued to make tremendous progress. And science and technology minister Peter Daka has been discharged from hospital.
In an interview, High Commissioner Mbula said Justice Sakala was recovering well and had continued to make very good progress. He said the Chief Justice was very cheerful and bright.
"He is still in hospital. An operation takes a bit of time to heal but he has continued to make very good progress. It's a matter of days, not months and he will be out," High Commissioner Mbula said.
Justice Sakala was evacuated to South Africa last week after he reportedly suffered a cardio vascular disorder.
On Friday, he underwent a minor operation at the Milpark hospital in South Africa where he is admitted.
Well-placed sources at Lusaka Trust Hospital told The Post that Justice Sakala had developed a heart problem which needed immediate medical attention.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner Mbula said he had not been in touch with MMD Parliamentary chief whip Vernon Mwaanga who left for South Africa on Saturday for his routine medical check-up.
However, High Commissioner Mbula said he would see Mwaanga today.
And health minister Kapembwa Simbao said he went to see Daka at Lusaka Trust Hospital where he was admitted on Tuesday but was told that he had been discharged.
Simbao said he did not know where Daka was and how he was doing.
Efforts to get hold of Daka failed as his mobile phone went unanswered.
