Bertrand Bisimwa told the Nation the matter has been dealt with as the talks entered the second week in Nairobi under the chairmanship of United Nations Special envoy General Olusegun Obasanjo.

He dismissed claims that there is a split in the CNDP high command terming the head of the army reported to have ousted Nkunda, “a man who is now under control”.

Bisimwa said General Bosco Ntanganda, wanted by the International Criminal Court acted beyond his powers which did not allow him to execute such pronouncements.

“General Ntaganda is now at his home where his movement is restricted. He has been replaced and disciplinary committee will deal with outright defiance he showed. He is not under arrest though and was free to have security around him,” Bisimwa told the nation at the United Nations headquarters in Nairobi where peace talks are being held.

General Ntaganda who is challenging General Laurent Nkunda’s leadership of Congo’s Tutsi rebels said on Thursday last week Gen Nkunda was obstructing efforts to achieve peace in the country’s war-ravaged east.

The apparent power struggle emerged as the Tutsi rebel group, whose attacks in east Democratic Republic of Congo in recent months have displaced a quarter of a million civilians, resumed peace talks this week with Congo’s government.
