ZAMBIA has been voted as the 5th place to be considered for
visitation in Africa by tourists this year.

According to Sun International hotels public relations and marketing manager Elizabeth Mwanza, Zambia is placed 44th on the New York Times travel website.

“The site states that from the Aegean Sea to Zambia, this year’s most compelling destinations are awash in sublime landscapes, cutting-edge art, gala music festivals, and stylish new resorts,” she stated.

She added that the site was also encouraging tourists to vote for their favourite sites.

“The 44 sites compiled by Seth Sherwood and Gisela Williams include Beirut in the first place and Washington DC in the second place while Zambia is on the 44th position behind Senegal who are 10th on the list, Egypt on 32nd position, South Africa on 34th position and Madagascar in 38 position,” she stated.

She added that according to the site, it was stated that for a long time Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania had been the big three in safari.

“Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa are being described as having been the big three of the safari world, producing most of the major outfitters and serving up the most African wildlife adventures,” she stated.

She added that it was now Zambia’s turn for the outdoor enthusiasts seeking a more intimate animal-watching experience and less beaten jungle paths.

“We are slowly getting there and we are slowly earning the title as the ultimate insider’s alternative. We are well positioned for this title and being 44th in the world and 5th in Africa is no mean achievement,” stated Mwanza.
