PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda yesterday said Zambia was experiencing unprecedented levels of rainfall which had led to floods. Briefing the press at State House yesterday, President Banda said initial assessments indicated that most parts of the country had been severely affected which included Western, Southern and North Western provinces.
"In all, 15 districts have so far been severely affected," he said. "It is likely that if the rains continue, it will cause widespread damage to infrastructure to other parts of the country."
President Banda said the government had dispatched teams for spot assessment and he would also be travelling when the weather permits. President Banda directed defence forces to mobilise support and disaster management efforts throughout the country.
