It’ll be injustice to Zambians if Kunda doesn’t resign – Sata

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Michael Sata (right) has said Vice-President George Kunda has over the years perfected the art of misleading presidents and national leaders who commit crimes. In an interview, Sata said it would be injustice to the Zambian people if Vice-President Kunda did not resign from office for defending former communications and transport minister Dora Siliya’s misconduct.

He said public pressure should intensify for Vice-President Kunda to resign so that he was not given another opportunity to defend misconduct in government.

He said Vice-President Kunda had failed to remain loyal to the public despite them meeting his huge remuneration packages.

“There is no justice for Rupiah Banda and George Kunda to remain in office because it is not Dora Siliya alone who breached the Constitution. She was advised by her President and the chief lawyer to breach the Constitution. They should take a leaf from Dora Siliya,” said Sata. “He’s a big liability which must go. He just moves anywhere anyhow. He has no ground. He defends things which he knows are not true. He is having a field day misleading Rupiah Banda. At least Levy Mwanawasa could overrule him on some things because he was an eminent lawyer.”

Sata said Vice-President Kunda would go down in history as the most dishonorable justice minister the nation has ever had.

And PF vice-president Guy Scott said Vice-President Kunda should resign for defending Siliya’s wrong doing, coupled with his failure to protect Attorney General Mumba Malila and Solicitor General Dominic Sichinga from President Banda’s vicious accusations against them.

“...his defence of Dora Siliya and failure to protect his own people from vicious attacks, that’s why he should resign. His people are being attacked and he can’t stand up for them,” Scott said.

Scott said the nation should not expect anything good from Vice-President Kunda, President Banda and their government.

Last Tuesday, Siliya resigned in view of the findings by the tribunal that she breached the Constitution. The judge Dennis Chirwa-chaired tribunal found that siliya breached Article 3 of the Constitution when she selected RP Capital Partners Limited to value Zamtel’s assets.
