President Rupiah Banda has with immediate effect appointed Commerce and Industry Felix Mutati to act as Minister of Communications and Transport.
In a press statement issued by special assistant to the President Dickson Jere which was availed in Lusaka today President Banda announced that Mr. Mutati will be Minister of Communications on an acting position until such a time when the substantive minister is appointed.
“In exercise of the powers vested in me pursuant to the provisions of Article 46(3) of the Constitution, Chapter 1 of the Laws of Zambia and Section 4 of the statutory functions act, Chapter 4 of the Laws of Zambia, I have with immediate effect assigned you as Minister of Communications and Transport until such a time that I revoke the appointment,” President Banda said in a letter to Mr. Mutati.
The appointment of Mr. Mutati follows the recent resignation of former Transport and Communications Minister Dora Siliya.
