A SCHEME by the MMD to smear filth on Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata to politically 'finish' him before 2011 elections has been exposed. According to a confidential document entitled Destruction of the Cobra part II, the MMD has planed to politically destroy Sata in Lusaka, Northern and Copperbelt provinces.

According to the document, a youth organisation known as Youths and Students for RB (YS4RB) will be used as an implementing agency to issue scathing media attacks against Sata concerning his credibility and expose his alleged undemocratic tendencies from the time he was in UNIP, MMD and PF.

According to the document, the plan includes showing the good works that the late president Levy Mwanawasa and the current President Rupiah Banda have done in various sectors.

The document revealed that the MMD would use the youths to vehemently call upon Sata to resign from active politics on moral grounds and ask him to take up farming rather than sowing seeds of hatred in the country.

"In the implementation, the Youth and Students for RB, will undertake to carry out all the activities. The youth and students for RB will identify an individual who must have a strong personality and be a determined person to speak in various media... . The person will be couched on the various issues and how to professionally deal with the media," revealed the document.

Other strategies to be used include the issuing of vehement personal attacks on Sata concerning his lifestyle, marriage, girlfriends and smoking habits.

The document further stated that in the 2008 election, Sata had secured support from Luapula and had increased his support base in some urban areas of Eastern Province.

It also stated that even after losing the presidential election, Sata had continued cheating people that his victory was stolen through rigging.

According to the document, it was possible for Sata to have a strategy to win the 2011 elections, hence the need to stop him and develop strategies to diminish his support base.

"All in all Mr Sata lost with a narrow margin; to a large extent his performance in the by-election was excellent. It must be noted that Mr Sata is a shrewd, uncouth leader who has a narrow understanding of modern politics. However, he has been able to ride on the illiteracy and semi-illiteracy. At the same time, he rides on the fact that all Zambians forget easily and have no culture of reading. As such he has committed a lot of scandals in the past no one remembers. In effect, he comes out as a saviour rather than a destroyer he has been. He has made empty promises, which many Zambians have believed. It is against this background that this project would like to address these issues; to remind our people through information dissemination. This is because if this is not done, he will continue cheating people and may be elected to the office of Republican President," read the document.

According to the document, some PF members would be influenced through private meetings to level their party as if it had no future under Sata.

According to the document, the implementing group would contact all individuals who closely worked with Sata but have since been dumped, to help destroy the PF leader.

The document stated: "Group together some people who Mr Sata has injured to assist with information and in future strategizing if need arises; Whenever Mr Sata will be speaking, a junior party official responds to him vehemently using strong terms; Mr Sata will be sued and taken to court on various charges both criminal and civil case so that he is kept busy at court. There is a list of offences he has committed."

The document highlighted immorality, tribalism, dictatorial tendencies, opportunism, insulting, former colonial informer, thugery and criminality, liar, potential terrorist, failed parent and ex-convict as some useful information against Sata.

According to the document, the outcome of the campaign was to reduce Sata's popularity on the Copperbelt, Lusaka, Luapula and Northern provinces, silence him out of politics and that the government would concentrate on development programmes without interruptions.

The document stated that the political dispensation would by and large depend on issues rather than personal attacks by some politicians who wanted power at all costs.

It further stated that Sata's stance on various national issues had presented a negative effect on the programmes and activities of government in that 90 per cent of his criticism was meant to derail government programmes.

When contacted over the secret document, Emmanuel Tembo, the contact person just kept saying, "haashi, haashi,! Which chaps are these, kanshi? Ah no ! no!"

Tembo later requested to meet this reporter this Wednesday in Kitwe on his way to Kasempa, North Western Province.
