PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda on Thursday left for Malawi to attend the inauguration of newly elected President of Malawi Bingu Wa Mutharika scheduled to be held today on Blantyre.
In a statement issued by special assistant to the President for press and public relations Dickson Jere, President Banda flew from Livingstone Airport to Blantyre yesterday afternoon after closing the 6th Zambia International Business Advisor Council (ZIBAC) meeting held at the Zambezi Sun in Livingstone.
Jere stated that President Banda was expected to be among other Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new President in Malawi.
He stated that ceremony was scheduled to be held on today in Blantyre.
Jere stated that President Banda would be accompanied by energy minister Kenneth Konga.
He stated that President Banda was expected to return to Zambia on today shortly after the ceremony.
