RUPIAH Banda is definitely exiting, PF-UPND pact co-leader Hakainde Hichilema has said. And Hichilema has backed chief Moonze's demands that he should be reinstated as paramount chief.

In an interview, Hichilema said Zambians wanted a change of government and MMD acting president and Republican President Rupiah Banda would have no choice but to accept the will of the people.

"The people in the country do require change, there is no question about it. There is nothing that President Rupiah Banda can do, when change comes it comes and unfortunately he is the one who is to exit and we are the ones who are coming in. That is the reality," Hichilema said.

And Hichilema said chief Moonze of the Tonga people of Southern Province lost his status as a paramount chief because of administrative lapse, which require correction.

"Chief Moonze is known that he is paramount chief. Moonze Mukulu was a paramount chief of this area. [There was] an administrative lapse, it should be corrected and there is no contention," said Hichilema. "Ask any Tonga, he will tell you that Moonze was a paramount chief. When the colonialists came they found him as a paramount chief. So it's not anything new. It's not a creation of any government or liking of any government, this is the reality of the matter."

During the Lwiindi Gonde traditional ceremony of the Tonga people on Monday, chief Moonze pleaded with the government to recognize him as a paramount chief.
