Sata can go ahead with impeachment if he wishes - Rupiah

President Rupiah Banda was this morning taken by surprise to hear that Patriotic Front (PF) President Michael Sata has not withdrawn from the impeachment call. Answering questions from journalists at the Lusaka International Airport before his departure for South Africa, President Banda said he was not scared of being impeached.

The journalists wanted to get his comment on Sata’s statement who earlier refuted the lead stories in the Daily Mail and Times of Zambia which quoted the PF leader as having withdrawn his MPs from moving an impeachment motion in Parliament.

“He has refuted? Well, he can go ahead, I have been calling for the impeachment we have received calls from him… but he can go ahead. He is very welcome to impeach, the laws of Zambia allow it. Let’s see how he will do it,” said President Banda.

Vice President George Kunda, Lusaka Province Minister Charles Shawa and Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya people of Livingstone were among the delegation that saw off President Banda.
