(TALKZIMBABWE) Sanctions still very real

Sanctions still very real

DEAR EDITOR - If there's anybody who still thinks the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe serve any useful purpose, they need to think again. For a start, the sanctions are neither targeted nor smart. They do not specifically punish President Mugabe alone, but the whole country irrespective of race, gender or political affiliation.

Witness Britain's attempt to repatriate its WHITE aged pensioners because the payouts had become a pittance. Also witness how those who gleefully called for sanctions became partners-in-suffering during the hard times we went through last year.

Accessing health care became a painful mirage whether you supported Zanu PF or MDC.

The cholera bacteria did not only kill ruling party supporters. Companies, including British and American ones, found themselves closing or operating below capacity.

In light of this how can anyone with grey matter in their skulls describe the sanctions as smart or targeted?
