KASAMA residents last Thursday hurled insults at former president Frederick Chiluba, calling him a thief as he passed through the town centre. As Chiluba entered Kasama, the residents - some of them clad in Patriotic Front (PF) regalia - lined up the streets with clenched fists and called the former president all sorts of names.
Some residents who were near Kwacha Relax Motel called him a thief.
As Chiluba approached Starlight, he tried to lower the window of his vehicle but as soon as the people recognised him they shouted "lazo" meaning thief.
"Iwe lazo kabolala, leta indalama shesu [translated you thief, bring our money]," the people shouted.
Other people were gathered at the Post Office and they equally booed him.
The residents demanded that Chiluba pay back what he allegedly stole.
However, he proceeded to Kasembo Guest House which is located on the outskirts of Kasama where he spent a night.
Chiluba was in Kasama to attend the Ukusefya Pa Ng'wena traditional ceremony in Mungwi.
And in an interview yesterday, Chiluba said he would not take any more nonsense from PF leader Michael Sata.
Chiluba said he had taken enough nonsense from Sata.
He said Sata should not engage himself in politics of dark ages.
Chiluba said Sata should not hire thugs against him like he did on Thursday.
He said he would defend himself using the law and infrastructure available to him.
"He [Sata] should not use and abuse cadres to be engaged in petty politics. I have taken enough nonsense from Mr Sata and I will not allow this anymore," said Chiluba.
Chiluba said he had let Sata insult him on several radio stations and newspapers and this was the last time he would allow it to happen.
