(TALKZIMBABWE) Minister of Foreign Affairs, or of Finance?

Minister of Foreign Affairs, or of Finance?

DEAR EDITOR - I am concerned that our Minister of Finance is always out of the country. I have read more than six articles where the minister's comments were not forthcoming "because he is currently out of the country".

I can understand that the position of finance minister requires a lot of travel; but he seems to be more like a minister of foreign affairs, than of finance. We would want to hear what the minister has to say about the various important economic developments happening in the country.

Our public and private media should also be able to reach him when seeking comment; otherwise how do we get informed? Surely we cannot wait for DPA, Reuters or AFP to quote our own minister.

Just out of curiosity, I find it rather interesting that Minister Biti was busy presiding over Treasury Donor-Money Facility and shouting RBZ Governor Dr Gideon Gono must go whilst Dr Gono's team at RBZ was successfully negotiating for a US$500 million IMF package -- three quarters of which has already been deposited into the RBZ account.

What a funny world!

Biti needs to calm down and learn how to work cordially with technical experts like Dr Gono and deliver for Zimbabwe.

Student, opposition politics have no place when one is in government.
