(TALKZIMABWE) Welcome, progressive Zimbabweans

Welcome, progressive Zimbabweans

DEAR EDITOR - I find it interesting that there are elements of the media, or so inappropriately named "progressive media", that are still trying to present Zimbabwe in a bad light despite the many changes that are taking place in the country. I recently visited Zimbabwe and the progress being made there is astonishing.

There is a high level of optimism despite the many negative press reports from pirate radio stations and hired political and economic commentators.

Kariba and Victoria Falls have started filling up with tourists and game reserves, despite the negative publicity, are beginning to attract visitors from home and abroad.

Tourist areas are buzzing.

Those Zimbabweans who have chosen to maintain this negativity will be left by the wayside as the rest of the population starts working for the betterment of the country.

As they say: "The early bird catches the worm". Many Zimbabweans, some of whom have been fighting against their own government, have now started going back home to invest. Others, who will not see optimism, are left by the wayside, waiting for some NGO to employ them.

Many young people are already running very successful businesses in sectors left vacant by big business, while there are others who are still trying to make ends meet living abroad.

This is a very sad state of affairs.

I say, "Welcome to progressive Zimbabweans. Let's rebuild our country and let those who want to rot, rot."
